Most Likely To Score – Lauren Blakely – Release day + Review + Giveaway

Most Likely To Score
– Lauren Blakely

Genre : Contemporary romance, New Adult
♥♥♥♥♥

I said it before but I’ll say it again : Lauren Blakely writes the best book boyfriends. Just before Most Likely To Score, I read The V Card and completely fell for Graham. And here I am, falling again, but this time for Jones. I’m telling you, nobody is ready for him. Be prepared to fall in love with this swoon-worthy hero who is – and Jillian says it better than me – “the most intoxicating mix of rough and tender“.

Roomies – Christina Lauren

Genre : Contemporary romance, New Adult
♥♥♥♥♥

It’s been more than three weeks since I finished this book but I couldn’t write my review right away because I was too overwhelmed. Also, I was seriously lost after reading it and didn’t know how to rate it. This book really confused me. I loved it, then hated it and finally adored it. I guess if it made me feel so much, it might have been a great read.
I’m sincerely struggling on how to write my review. I want to stay simple and just say if I liked it or not and why, as I do for any other reads but I can’t talk about Roomies without getting personal. After hesitating a lot, I decided to just write whatever comes to my mind, whatever I feel like writing. This blog is a place I created to share my love of books and I love reading because of how it makes me feel. So here goes and I won’t blame you if you just can’t go through this review (apologies in advance for the ranting, haha!).

♥ The story

Roomies : Marriages of convenience are so…inconvenient.
Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a big-time musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.

Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realise that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?

♥ My review

What a rollercoaster ride! Like I said, I felt so many different emotions during this read.

First, I was really ecstatic. Five chapters in and everything is perfect. I meet this hero which is irresistible. I mean a sexy green-eyed Irish musician. Need I say more ? Oh yeah, the accent…

Books I recommend but never reviewed – #1 : Enemies to lovers

Books I recommend but never reviewed : enemies to lovers books - laylareads

Hello dear and amazing readers ! 🙂

I keep chatting about books everywhere lately and absolutely loving it. Be it on Instagram or Goodreads (by the way, if you feel like it, join me there for endless discussions and mutual recommendations of books).

While doing so, I kept thinking of how many books I absolutely loved and kept recommending but never properly reviewed, be it here or on Goodreads.

So I thought to gather them by theme in blog posts. I’m thinking of making them into a series : Books I recommend but never reviewed, that I’ll post every week, on Mondays (Gosh, I hope I will really commit to this and not say it but do nothing).

What I’ll be writing are not full and detailed reviews, but more like mini-reviews (at least, I’ll try to make them short). So I’ll put the GR links to the books so you can check the detailed summary.

Please tell me if the format is okay or if you have any suggestions on how I can make it enjoyable for you. Also tell me if those kind of posts would interest you 🙂

So here’s my Top 5 of the enemies-to-lovers trope :

#1

The Hating Game – Sally Thorne
♥♥♥♥♥

This is one of my favorite romantic comedy in the world! If anyone asks me for a good book in the enemies-to-lovers or office-romance category, this is the first one that comes to my mind. Joshua and Lucy work in the same office, right across from each other and play all kinds of games which has the same goal : making clear how much they hate the other.

Lucy is this really short, people-pleaser, vintage lover woman. Joshua is this really serious, intimidating, and awfully handsome man. But hating someone so

The Goal – Elle Kennedy (Off-Campus series #4)

The Goal
– Elle Kennedy

Genre : Sports romance, New Adult, Contemporary romance

Book 1 | Book 2 | Book 3 | Book 4
♥♥♥

When I started this series it was with no real expectations. I loved The Deal , liked The Mistake , absolutely LOVED The Score and as excited as I was about The Goal , I didn’t think I would read something better than Dean’s book from that series. But God…Tucker

♥ General impression

From the other books we have a certain image of him, the caring one, the mature one, the sensible one… but the stars of the hockey team took too much of the focus in the previous books for me to have really noticed him. I’m so happy Tucker got his book because it was amazing and it is definitely my favorite.
