Dating you / Hating you
My review : I don’t think anyone has escaped the craze around Dating you / Hating you’s release by Christina Lauren. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and when I did, I read it in one go. I didn’t sleep for an entire night to finish it. It was that good.
First, I’ll have to say I’m so pleasantly surprised by this book. I’ve loved all their previous series (some books more than others). However, I didn’t expect something like Dating you / Hating you. It was something else entirely and still, you could feel it was Christina Lauren. Their humor is there, their endearing characters as well but the subject is way more serious. I found that their characters were so well thought, the story was more mature. This book is really a favorite. Well done to those wonderful authors who succeeded in writing something a bit different from what they’re used to and doing it amazingly!
My review :
Today, I’m talking about my last read : Friends without Benefits by Penny Reid. This is my first book from this author and I have to say that this has never happened to me : hating a book as much as I loved it.
At first I was sure I was giving it a 1 star rating. I didn’t like Elizabeth at all. I found her issue with Nico to be a bit repetitive and didn’t like her reaction. I didn’t get how she dealt with it and I found it so unbelievable, it was ridiculous everytime she explained it.
Anna and the french kiss
– Stephanie Perkins
Genre : Young adult
Rating : ♥♥♥
My review :
There was such great enthusiasm around this YA on Instagram, I absolutely had to get my hands on this one to see what it was all about.
The setting was great (a bit cliché, true, but it’s understandable). I loved that they were in an internat in France. The story started pretty great and I dived right into it.
They were imperfect and I liked that. It was really realistic how they were attractive in quite a natural way instead of being described as gorgeous and flawless. Very refreshing.
At the beginning I liked Anna, I think many girls her age could identify and others think back about when they were 17 and how everything life had to offer was impressive.
My review :
« The Deal » or the most endearing book from the « University romance » genre ! Book one from the Off-campus serie is according to me the perfect illustration of the expression « feeling in love while reading ».
I have to admit that at the 5 first pages I was doubtful. We learned outright about the traumatic event that scarred our female character and I immediately thought there would be a lot of unnecessary drama. Then, the hero appears and I thought of the cliché of the good-looking football captain who’s full of himself. Well, guess what ? It was that…but so much more !!! (Fisrt, because he was a hockey captain and not a football one…yeah, that’s definitely not the same thing…duh.)
Garrett is confident (a little too much sometimes) but so funny and endearing. Hannah is strong, humble and smart. They’re both talented and determined. Elle Kennedy created characters with such depth and realism that I never wanted the story to end. The remarkable thing the author did in writing this book I think is : taking a « deja-vu » scenario and turning it into something entirely unique.
My review :
Hello everyone ! If you’ve read my about me page, you know that I have to rewrite all my reviews following a technical problem. It’s quite tricky as it’s been a while since I’ve read most of the books. If you’ve spent some time on the blog, you also might have noticed that I tend to review books that I loved. It doesn’t mean that I’ve loved all my reads but I don’t see the point in detailing why I hated/disliked a book. Well,it depends. Sometimes I need to vent haha. Anyways, all of this to let you know that all my ratings (good and bad) are available on my Goodreads profile.
Let’s get back to Smut by Karina Halle. I’ve liked every previous book I read by her but this one is my favorite!
What attracted me to this book :
- The topic of writing
- The ennemis to lovers story is one of my favorite genre in Romance
