Résumé (Goodreads)

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend…

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve …

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

Okay, so I’m a sucker for ‘best-friends turn to lovers’ stories but I must admit… I’ve never, ever read anything as good as this. I’m not talking about the writing style (it was really great) but that’s not what made that story special. It was the storyline, the perfection of each one of the characters, the cuteness, the depth, the realism of each and every moment…*sigh* (yeah, I just wrote « sigh » but I literally just put down that book, and I’m still overwhelmed).

I know I shouldn’t write my thoughts about this book at this very minute because it’s still so fresh, I’m no being really objective but I will act against my best thoughts and do it anyway because a book that made me feel so much , deserves a heartfelt review…

Carter…Carter. Carter…I’m in love with Carter. He’s at the top of my favorite hero list. Right with « Ryder » from The Perfect hope (cf. my previous book haul post). I don’t think this review will be much organized if I continue so I’ll try to make sense from now on.

The storyline is perfect. There’s no other word. To be short, Carter and Arizona have been best friend since fourth grade, nope, fifth grade… Anyway, you’ll get the answer in the story :p They’ve never crossed the line despite what everyone else think.Until… well you’ll see. What I can tell you though, is that I absolutely loved how the story was focused only on them. Only Carter and Arizona. And I admit it was really really nice. Changes from the book series where you have glimpses of other couples’ story. Here the focus is only on them and it’s good because we’re totally drown into their story.

The characters are… perfect. I’m sorry, I’m lacking words here… Seriously. I already told you about how Carter made it to the top of my list so… nothing to add except that what made me love him is his protective side, his « I-don’t-care-about-everything-but-Arizona » attitude, his maturity (yes, there is maturity in him, it doesn’t appear like that to everyone, but I repeat, yes, there is.), his intelligence, his loyalty…he’s perfect (already told you I don’t any other word, sorry). Arizona was great too. She wasn’t the ‘tomboy’ nor the ‘guys aren’t looking at me like the girl I am’ type of best-friend. She was pretty, feminine, funny AND she dated.

So it was really great to see how their relationship developped. Their relationship was beautiful. Simply.

I also loved Ari’s mom (and her older sister, her conversation with Carter was funny!). John, Nicole, they were great too.

I feel like I don’t have any vocabulary left after reading this book, I keep wanting to write ‘I loved’ and ‘I also loved’ (I apologize for my lack of eloquence in this post, seriously).

So, yeah, I also loved… how the story was structured, the flashbacks weren’t confusing, like I thought they might be (normally, I hate flashbacks). I loved how we were well into their story with all the emails, text, etc.

Oh.my.god. this story is so full of cuteness, sexiness and love. *re-sigh* (yeah , seriously). Okay I’ll stop now as I’m not sure I’m making any sense. I might edit this post later when I can think straight again.

Xx,

L 🙂

Résumé (Goodreads)

I knew the exact moment I’d become a ‘yes’ girl.

December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after’ was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.

I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.

A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?

It all comes down to this.
One question.
One month.

Be My December?

Just finished “Be My December” by Rachel Brookes.
At first, when I read the synopsis, it didn’t really appeal to me but then I read reviews and got curious. I won this book in a giveaway, for which I thank the author again.

If I had to describe Eden and Ky’s story in one word, it would be : INTENSE.

Eden faced a more than traumatic experience when she was 20, since then it had been difficult for her to live as she used to so she keeps pretending to be someone different everytime and comes up with rules that seems really strange at the beginning but well, we kind of get it a some point…
Eden was a nice character, not an amazing one, but a nice one. She didn’t particularly annoy me but I didn’t especially loved her either.

Ky, on the other hand was amazing. I loved his character from the beginning and his alpha male side…oof…

I loved the other characters as well : Josh, Ashlyn, Ky’s family, Douglas…

This story was sweet, sexy and full of angst. I liked that.

There were other few aspects I didn’t like. To be honest, it’s not the kind of book I particularly like to read (I mean I like humorous book) but this one was nice enough. I would have liked for certain things to have been different, for example some scenes which I found unnecessary, as well as some drama which could have been avoided, and certain dialogues which were a bit too much…

But in overall, I recommend for readers who like a good romance, full of angst.

Peace,
L.

Résumé (Goodreads)

Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

Mon avis :

– English Version –

It took me too much time to get into the story and as long to finish it.
It was ok but I felt there was too many unnecessary details (like Bellini’s POV chapters… I seriously couldn’t care).
Otherwise, it was…well, ok. I didn’t get attached to any of the characters, nor the story. But I didn’t hate it either.
