Résumé (Goodreads)

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend…

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve …

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

Mon avis :

– English Version –

Okay, so I’m a sucker for ‘best-friends turn to lovers’ stories but I must admit… I’ve never, ever read anything as good as this. I’m not talking about the writing style (it was really great) but that’s not what made that story special. It was the storyline, the perfection of each one of the characters, the cuteness, the depth, the realism of each and every moment…*sigh* (yeah, I just wrote « sigh » but I literally just put down that book, and I’m still overwhelmed).

I know I shouldn’t write my thoughts about this book at this very minute because it’s still so fresh, I’m no being really objective but I will act against my best thoughts and do it anyway because a book that made me feel so much , deserves a heartfelt review…

Carter…Carter. Carter…I’m in love with Carter. He’s at the top of my favorite hero list. Right with « Ryder » from The Perfect hope (cf. my previous book haul post). I don’t think this review will be much organized if I continue so I’ll try to make sense from now on.

The storyline is perfect. There’s no other word. To be short, Carter and Arizona have been best friend since fourth grade, nope, fifth grade… Anyway, you’ll get the answer in the story :p They’ve never crossed the line despite what everyone else think.Until… well you’ll see. What I can tell you though, is that I absolutely loved how the story was focused only on them. Only Carter and Arizona. And I admit it was really really nice. Changes from the book series where you have glimpses of other couples’ story. Here the focus is only on them and it’s good because we’re totally drown into their story.

The characters are… perfect. I’m sorry, I’m lacking words here… Seriously. I already told you about how Carter made it to the top of my list so… nothing to add except that what made me love him is his protective side, his « I-don’t-care-about-everything-but-Arizona » attitude, his maturity (yes, there is maturity in him, it doesn’t appear like that to everyone, but I repeat, yes, there is.), his intelligence, his loyalty…he’s perfect (already told you I don’t any other word, sorry). Arizona was great too. She wasn’t the ‘tomboy’ nor the ‘guys aren’t looking at me like the girl I am’ type of best-friend. She was pretty, feminine, funny AND she dated.

So it was really great to see how their relationship developped. Their relationship was beautiful. Simply.

I also loved Ari’s mom (and her older sister, her conversation with Carter was funny!). John, Nicole, they were great too.

I feel like I don’t have any vocabulary left after reading this book, I keep wanting to write ‘I loved’ and ‘I also loved’ (I apologize for my lack of eloquence in this post, seriously).

So, yeah, I also loved… how the story was structured, the flashbacks weren’t confusing, like I thought they might be (normally, I hate flashbacks). I loved how we were well into their story with all the emails, text, etc. this story is so full of cuteness, sexiness and love. *re-sigh* (yeah , seriously). Okay I’ll stop now as I’m not sure I’m making any sense. I might edit this post later when I can think straight again.

Summary (Goodreads)

I’ve lost it. 🙁 The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive 🙂 !!
Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

My review : My favorite book from Kinsella ! I literally laughed out loud and more than once ! I loved it and strongly recommend.

Résumé (Goodreads)

Subject: Justin Timberlake Nudes!

Lily, you predictable perv. I knew you’d open this email faster if I tempted you with a glimpse of JT’s “PP”. Well, put your pants back on and grab some bubbly because I have much better news to share.

As of tomorrow, I’ll be the new executive assistant at Lorena Lefray Designs. I am SO excited, but there’s one itty bitty problem: I won’t be Lorena’s assistant. I’ll be working for her older brother, Julian.

I know what you’re thinking- “But Jo, what’s the problem?”

Google him. Now. He’s the man in the fitted navy suit whose face reminds you that there’s hope yet for this cruel, ugly world. Keep scrolling…Do you see those dimples? Yup. That’s the Julian Lefray I will be reporting to tomorrow morning.

Lord, help us all…

Mon avis :

“The first email, sitting right at the very top of my neglected inbox, was from Mr. Fuck-Me himself. Er, I mean, Julian Lefray.”

“He didn’t even know the effect those dimples had on my girly parts. One word : Ijustgotpregnant. Yeah, that’s one word.”

“That is, us pretending to be friends while subtly eye-fucking the shit out of each other” – “C’est nous, faisant semblant d’être amis tout en se déshabillant subtilement du regard“.

My review :

I really liked R.S. Grey’s writing style in her previous book « The Design » as well as her funny characters. I remember laughing so much while reading Cammie’s thoughts. But now ! Now, I must admit she surprised me with this book, it was a totally whole new level of hilarious, sweet and cute !

Joséphine, aka « Jo » Keller is so damn funny ! She is real, authentic and represents ordinary people so well we can identify (Well, I meant very stunning ordinary people who has the chance to work with a very good-looking man, but still…).

She works hard to achieve her goals like anybody else, she lacks self-confidence like anybody else, her situation and her debts are real too ! Her phone calls and emails with her best friend Lily who stayed in Texas are ones any ordinary girl has with her own best friend and I loved the closeness it gives us with her character.

Some quotes of Joséphine that made me laugh :

The first email, sitting right at the very top of my neglected inbox, was from Mr. Fuck-Me himself. Er, I mean, Julian Lefray.”

He didn’t even know the effect those dimples had on my girly parts. One word : Ijustgotpregnant. Yeah, that’s one word.

Julian’s appearance is as its supposed to be : « dreamy ». He’s described as gorgeous and smart with this gentleman touch. That’s what I really liked about this hero. I found it refreshing, it was different from the « bad-boy » male character, who’s rough and wants the girl in his bed right now. Even if I don’t have anything against that kind of hero (you can see it from my previous reviews :D) but it’s true that this little change was good and I loved Julian.

R.S.Grey gives us a real story, full of romance, a real friendship between those two characters. That doesn’t help the growing sexual tension that they both try to surpass due to their professional relationship. And that is really entertaining 🙂

“That is, us pretending to be friends while subtly eye-fucking the shit out of each other”

The author also gives us conversations full of humor between Joséphine and Julian, but not only. To sum up, this book is fun, fun, fun and tells us a story about such an adorable couple. I recommend it to all lovers of a good romantic comedy.

Spread the love 🙂
