Anna and the french kiss

My review :
There was such great enthusiasm around this YA on Instagram, I absolutely had to get my hands on this one to see what it was all about.
The setting was great (a bit cliché, true, but it’s understandable). I loved that they were in an internat in France. The story started pretty great and I dived right into it.
They were imperfect and I liked that. It was really realistic how they were attractive in quite a natural way instead of being described as gorgeous and flawless. Very refreshing.
At the beginning I liked Anna, I think many girls her age could identify and others think back about when they were 17 and how everything life had to offer was impressive.
And who couldn’t like Etienne ? With his perfect english accent and perfect smile.
The other characters were great also. I liked the group of friends.
What I liked and liked less
The story was enjoyable too and I kept reading, reading, and waiting… waiting for the story to stop going in circles and move forward… like… PLEASE??
I get the whole YA thing, not going deep into things and all and the characters being 17-18 and not so mature at dealing with certain things but I would really have liked it if the story had gone a bit deeper in some aspects (relations with the parents, with their friends, ex, etc.).
Anyway, they were still aspects I really enjoyed : the best part for me was when they were apart, the emails and calls were absolutely lovely to read and of course that last scene which was what everyone was waiting for I guess (and which could have happened way before in my opinion *cough*).
Special mention to the quote highlighted by Etienne.
To sum up, nice read but very light and a bit lacking.
More details :
Anna has everything figured out – she was about to start senior year with her best friend, she had a great weekend job, and her huge work crush looked as if it might finally be going somewhere… Until her dad decides to send her 4383 miles away to Paris. On her own.
But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna finds herself making new friends, including Etienne, the smart, beautiful boy from the floor above. But he’s taken – and Anna might be too. Will a year of romantic near-missed end with the French kiss she’s been waiting for?
